Description

The 1967 24 Hours of Daytona produced one of the most emotionally charged moments in Ferrari’s racing history. Just months after Ford had humiliated the Scuderia with their famous 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans, Ferrari arrived at Daytona with three 330 P4s and proceeded to deliver an almost identical response — crossing the finishing line in first, second, and third place in a display of speed, reliability, and wounded pride that the tifosi celebrated as one of the great victories of the era.

Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon took the outright win in the No. 23 car — a result of profound bittersweet significance, for Bandini would lose his life just months later at the Monaco Grand Prix in May 1967, making this Daytona victory one of the last great chapters of his tragically shortened career. The combination of Bandini’s smooth, precise Italian style and Amon’s raw New Zealand pace proved irresistible over the full 24 hours, and the image of the three red P4s crossing the line together remains one of motorsport’s defining photographs.
