Description

The BMW M3 E30 is one of the defining touring cars of the 1980s — a model born directly from BMW Motorsport’s desire to go racing, homologated for Group A competition, and ultimately dominant across multiple championships. In Japan, the JTCC provided a fiercely competitive arena for the M3 to demonstrate its abilities, and the white No. 27 entry of Kawamoto and Reid represents the car at the very beginning of its racing career, the E30 having been introduced for competition in 1986.

The M3’s high-revving 2.3-litre four-cylinder, wide arches, and rear spoiler made it instantly recognisable on circuit, and its success in the JTCC mirrored that achieved in European touring car racing. Solido’s 1:18 diecast model captures the period race livery in precise detail at approximately 25cm long, with openable doors and working wheels.
