Description

The BMW M3 E36 succeeded one of the most celebrated performance cars of the 1980s and established its own identity through a different approach — where the E30 M3 had been a homologation special with a high-revving four-cylinder, the E36 deployed a 3.0-litre straight-six producing 286bhp in a car that combined genuine driver engagement with the kind of refinement and everyday usability that its predecessor had largely foregone. The result was a sports coupé of exceptional balance and breadth: fast enough for track days, cultured enough for daily use, and with the tactile, communicative steering and chassis feel that BMW’s M division has always placed at the centre of their road car philosophy.

Dakar Yellow is one of the most evocative and beloved colours in the BMW M palette — a vivid, saturated yellow named with a nod to the great desert rally, which on the E36 M3’s clean, taut coupé body achieves an intensity that makes the car impossible to overlook and immediately identifiable as something out of the ordinary.
