Description

The BMW E24 6 Series is widely considered one of the most beautiful production cars to emerge from Munich — a grand touring coupé designed by Paul Bracq whose long bonnet, sweeping roofline, and perfectly balanced proportions have aged with a grace that few contemporaries can match. The 635 CSi sat at the top of the range, its 3.5-litre M30 straight-six producing 218bhp in standard form and delivering the kind of effortless, long-distance pace that the grand touring coupé formula demands. By 1984 the E24 had matured into one of the definitive expressions of the genre.

Hartge was among the most respected BMW tuners of the era — a Saarland-based company whose engine development, suspension work, and aerodynamic packages extracted considerably more from BMW’s already accomplished mechanical platform without compromising the refinement and reliability that made the cars desirable in the first place. The Hartge-modified 635 CSi pushed the M30 straight-six beyond its standard outputs whilst bringing the suspension and visual presentation into line with the enhanced performance beneath. White is a particularly clean and elegant choice on the E24’s sculpture, the colour following the coupé’s lines without distraction. Solido’s 1:18 diecast model captures the 1984 Hartge car with openable doors and working wheels at approximately 25cm in length, presented on a display plinth. Officially licensed.
