Pocher models are large 1:8 scale car kits supplied as pre-painted parts, so the finish is applied at the factory and the work is in the assembly. The modern range concentrates on supercars and racing icons, with subjects from Lamborghini, Ferrari, Pagani and Porsche. Use the grid below to see which kits are available, with worldwide delivery.
What Is a Pocher Kit?
Pocher is an Italian brand founded by Arnaldo Pocher. It showed its first 1:8 car kit, a 1907 Fiat F2 130HP, at the Milan International Toy Fair in 1966, and became known for large, highly detailed kits that came pre-coloured. The brand is now part of Hornby Hobbies, which relaunched Pocher in 2013 with a 1:8 Lamborghini Aventador presented at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. Every Pocher car kit is 1:8 scale, far larger than a typical 1:18 display model, and our scale guide shows how the common scales compare.
A modern Pocher kit arrives as hundreds of pre-painted parts, metal body panels and screws, with an instruction manual. There is no painting to do, but assembly takes patience: Pocher and the motoring press put the Pagani Utopia build at well over a day, and a realistic figure is 30 hours or more spread over several sessions. The finished model is a substantial centrepiece rather than a quick build.
Supercars from Italy
Since the relaunch, Pocher has worked directly with car makers. The Pagani Utopia Coupe kit was developed with Pagani and has more than 556 parts and over 200 screws, metal body panels, rubber tyres, and working doors, steering and suspension. Built, it is about 58 cm long. Pocher has offered it in several finishes, and more of the marque is in our Pagani model cars.
Ferrari subjects in the Pocher range include the F50 and the 12Cilindri, both in classic Ferrari colours such as Rosso Corsa. Read more in our articles on the Pocher Ferrari 12Cilindri kit and the Pocher Ferrari F50 kit, or browse all Ferrari model cars.
Racing Subjects: the Porsche 917
Pocher has also produced the Porsche 917 in its K and KH forms, in liveries including Gulf and Martini, so the range covers endurance racing as well as road cars. More from Stuttgart is in our Porsche model cars.
Prefer a Ready-Built Model?
If you want a large model without the build, factory-assembled 1:18 and 1:12 cars are the alternative. CMC makes highly detailed metal models with many opening parts, and MR Collection hand-builds resin supercars in Italy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pocher part of Hornby?
Yes. The Pocher brand is owned by Hornby Hobbies, which relaunched it in 2013. Modern kits are developed with the car makers themselves, such as Pagani for the Utopia.
Which cars has Pocher made?
Pocher's modern 1:8 range has included the Lamborghini Aventador, Pagani Utopia, Ferrari F50, Ferrari 12Cilindri and Porsche 917. The grid above shows which kits are available.
Do Pocher 1:8 kits need painting?
No. The parts come pre-painted in the finished colour, so the work is assembly, much of it screwed together, following the instruction manual.
How big is a 1:8 scale model car kit?
A 1:8 model is one eighth of the real car's length. The Pagani Utopia is about 4.6 metres long, so the finished kit measures roughly 58 cm.
