Description

The Renault Mégane Maxi was one of the most competitive F2 Kit Car class rally machines of the late 1990s — a car that shared little more than its silhouette with the front-wheel-drive road car from which it was ostensibly derived. Kit car regulations permitted the construction of purpose-built competition machinery beneath familiar bodywork, and the Mégane Maxi exploited those freedoms fully: rear-wheel drive, a lightweight spaceframe, and a highly developed suspension package that made it a match for the other Maxi contenders from SEAT and Peugeot that contested the class with similar ambition.

Martin Rowe was one of the most talented British rally drivers of his generation, competitive in international events alongside his domestic programme, and his No. 33 Mégane Maxi entry at the 1998 Rally San Remo — one of the WRC calendar’s most storied Italian rounds — placed him against the best the class had to offer on the mixed asphalt and gravel stages of the Ligurian hills. Otto Mobile’s 1:18 resin model captures the No. 33 car at approximately 25cm in length, produced as an individually numbered limited edition of 1,500 pieces, presented with display plinth. Officially licensed.
