Description

The Ford GT that arrived in 2017 was unlike any previous car to wear the name — a mid-engined, carbon-fibre-monocoque hypercar built around a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 producing 647 bhp, its architecture derived directly from the Le Mans racing programme rather than adapted for it. Ford produced fewer than 1,000 examples across several model years, with buyers required to apply and demonstrate their commitment to actually using the car, and the combination of extreme performance, active aerodynamics, and road-registered rarity made it one of the most coveted machines of its generation. The active rear wing adjusts automatically across a range of positions to balance downforce and drag according to conditions — a system borrowed without apology from the racing car.

In Liquid Red, the Ford GT’s dramatic bodywork — the narrow cockpit, the prominent buttresses, the integrated rear diffuser — is presented with maximum visual impact, the colour working in concert with the car’s sculptural forms to produce a result that is genuinely striking from any angle. AUTOart’s 1:12 composite model captures the road car at approximately 39cm in length — a commanding display piece — with openable doors, engine cover, and front boot, working wheels, and a functioning rear wing that replicates the active aerodynamic system of the original.
