Description

Ford’s return to Le Mans in 2016 — timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the marque’s legendary 1-2-3-4 finish in 1966 — produced one of the most emotionally charged results in the race’s modern history. The programme continued into 2017 with the same four-car assault on the LMGTE Pro and Am classes, the 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 and carbon fibre chassis of the new Ford GT competing against the established Ferrari 488 GTE and Porsche 911 RSR opposition. Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook shared the No. 67 Ford Performance entry across the 24 hours at the Circuit de la Sarthe, bringing the car home in second position in the LMGTE Pro class — a result that demonstrated the continued competitiveness of the programme in its second Le Mans campaign.

The Ford GT’s aerodynamic package — active rear wing, dive planes, and carefully developed underbody — was developed in close collaboration between Ford Performance and Multimatic, the same engineering relationship that had produced the race-winning cars of 2016. Second in class at Le Mans is, by any measure, a result to be proud of against the quality of opposition that the GTE Pro class attracts. AUTOart’s 1:18 composite model captures the No. 67 car in its 2017 Le Mans specification at approximately 25cm in length, with openable doors, engine cover, and front compartment, and working wheels. Officially licensed.
