Description
The Ferrari 330 P3 was Maranello’s 1966 answer to Ford’s GT40 Mk II. Its mid-mounted 4.0-litre Colombo V12 used Lucas fuel injection for the first time on a Ferrari, producing around 420 PS in a tubular spaceframe chassis weighing just 851kg. The P3 won first time out at the Monza 1000km and again at Spa, both with Mike Parkes and John Surtees. At Le Mans in June 1966, Ferrari SEFAC entered No.21 for Lorenzo Bandini and Jean Guichet. Guichet ran fifth in the early laps, but the car was troubled after the sixth hour and retired in the 17th hour after 226 laps, the last works P3 still running, as Ford went on to take its famous one-two-three finish.
WERK83 has recreated the No.21 Berlinetta in 1:18 scale diecast metal, finished in Ferrari red with its Le Mans race numbers. Approximately 23cm long, this sealed diecast model has working wheels and is presented on a display plinth.
