Description

Add a Group B rally car to your collection with the MG Metro 6R4 No.12 Tour de Corse 1986. This officially licensed replica represents the entry driven by Didier Auriol and co-driver Bernard Occelli on one of the most demanding events of the World Rally Championship calendar.

The MG Metro 6R4 was developed by Austin Rover Motorsport, with engineering input from Williams Grand Prix Engineering, to contest the Group B category. Beneath its boxy, aero-laden bodywork sat a purpose-built 3.0-litre naturally aspirated V64V engine driving all four wheels, a deliberate departure from the turbocharged forced-induction route taken by most rivals. The chassis used a mid-mounted powertrain layout and was clothed in glass-fibre composite panels over a steel spaceframe. The 6R4 reached the works rally stages late in the Group B era and ran in international competition through 1986 before the category was withdrawn at the end of that season.

At the 1986 Tour de Corse, the 6R4 faced the fully developed Group B field including the Peugeot 205 T16 E2, Lancia Delta S4 and Ford RS200 across the narrow, twisting tarmac stages of Corsica. The asphalt-only nature of the event placed an emphasis on suspension and brake performance rather than the outright surface versatility for which Group B is best remembered, and it remains one of the most significant rallies in the sport’s history.

Made by Spark in 1:43 scale, this resin model measures approximately 10cm and comes mounted on a branded display base under a clear cover. At this scale a typical hatchback sits comfortably on a shelf alongside other 1:43 rally and historic touring car releases, making it straightforward to build a themed display.
