Description

The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1984 attracted the full spectrum of prototype racing, from the dominant Group C Porsches through to privateer and constructor entries that represented the independent spirit that has always been part of the race’s character. The Grid S2 was one such privateer effort — a prototype that carried three drivers through the duration of one of motorsport’s most demanding events. Alain de Cadenet was a well-established name in endurance racing, having previously built and raced his own De Cadenet-Cosworth prototypes at Le Mans, and his experience gave the No. 25 entry a knowledgeable foundation.

The 1984 Le Mans took place on the Circuit de la Sarthe in the first week of June, the field contested by Porsche 956s, Lancia LC2s, and a wide variety of privately entered Group C machinery. Jonathan Courage and Max Faure completed the three-driver line-up for the Grid S2 — a car that represents the entrepreneurial, independent side of Le Mans that makes the entry list as fascinating as any race result. Spark’s 1:43 resin model captures the No. 25 car at approximately 10cm in length, presented with display base and display case. Officially licensed.
