The A526 is Alpine’s first car built to the sweeping 2026 Formula 1 technical regulations, which introduce a smaller, lighter chassis, active aerodynamics and a 50/50 split between internal combustion power and electrical energy. The team transitioned to a customer Mercedes power unit for this regulatory era, ending its long-standing relationship with Renault works engines. Aerodynamic development under the new floor and movable wing rules has been a central focus for the Enstone factory, with emphasis on straight-line efficiency and stable downforce through corners. Gasly continues as team leader, partnered by a new team-mate as Alpine targets a return to the upper midfield.

At the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix, the A526 ran at the Shanghai International Circuit against the full grid of new-regulation challengers from Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull and the wider field. Gasly brought car No.10 home in sixth position, a strong points result during a season of recalibration for the Alpine programme.
