Description

This 1:18 scale replica of the 1997 Mini Cooper 1.3i Sport Pack is produced by French model maker Solido (reference S1800604) in diecast metal with plastic detail parts. The car is finished in red with a Union Jack roof decal and is officially licensed. Features include opening doors, rolling wheels and a display plinth. Approximate length: 20cm.

The 1997 Mini Cooper Sport Pack was built by Rover at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham and fitted with the 1,275cc A-Series four-cylinder engine running multi-point fuel injection controlled by Rover’s MEMS 2J management system. It produced 63 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 70 lb·ft of torque at 3,000 rpm, driving the front wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The Cooper name had returned to the Mini range in 1990 after a near twenty-year absence, and the Sport Pack option — introduced in 1996 — added flared wheel arches, 13-inch alloy wheels, wider tyres and uprated brakes. The A-Series engine used in these cars was the last evolution of a design that had powered the Mini since its 1959 launch.
