What Is the Senna 30th Anniversary Collection?

Released by Minichamps to mark 30 years since Ayrton Senna died at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, this collection follows his career car by car. What sets it apart from earlier Senna releases is the finish: every model is a 'Dirty Version', weathered to show the grime, rubber and wear of a car straight after the race rather than a showroom-clean replica. The packaging carries the Ayrton Senna Institute 30th anniversary branding.

The Cars in the Collection

The series covers each team Senna drove for, from his debut season to his final race:

  • Toleman Hart TG183B and TG184 (1984): his rookie year, including second place at the rain-stopped 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, his first F1 podium.
  • Lotus 97T (1985): his first Grand Prix win, from pole in heavy rain at Estoril in Portugal.
  • Lotus 98T (1986): the Renault-powered car from his second Lotus season.
  • Lotus 99T (1987): the Honda-powered, active-suspension car in which he won Monaco for the first time.
  • McLaren MP4/4, MP4/5B and MP4/6: the cars of his three world championships in 1988, 1990 and 1991.
  • McLaren MP4/8 (1993): the Ford-powered car he drove to wins in Brazil, the wet European Grand Prix at Donington, Monaco and Adelaide, his final race for McLaren.
  • Williams Renault FW16 (1994): the car from the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Several releases add extra detail, such as the MP4/8 with a flag from his European and Australian Grand Prix wins, the 1993 Monaco winner with figurine and trophy, and the 1991 Mexico car with Jean Alesi riding on the sidepod.

Models Currently in Stock

Most of the collection has now sold through, so availability changes quickly. At the moment we hold the 1:18 Lotus Renault 98T from 1986 and the 1:18 Lotus Honda 99T from the 1987 Monaco Grand Prix win, both in the weathered race finish. If the car you are looking for is out of stock, it is worth checking back, as individual pieces do return.

Choosing a Scale

The collection was produced in three sizes. The 1:43 models are compact and suit a large shelf display of the whole career. The 1:18 versions are the most popular choice for single showpieces and make the weathering easiest to appreciate, while the 1:12 releases are large display pieces for the most important cars. Our scale guide compares the sizes in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Ayrton Senna Minichamps models are in the 30th Anniversary Collection?

The series covers the Toleman TG183B and TG184, the Lotus 97T, 98T and 99T, the McLaren MP4/4, MP4/5B, MP4/6 and MP4/8, and the Williams FW16, with selected cars produced in 1:12, 1:18 and 1:43 scale.

What does 'Dirty Version' mean?

It is a weathered finish that recreates the dirt, rubber marks and wear a car picks up during a race, so each model looks as it did after the chequered flag rather than before the start.

Are the Senna models available in 1:18 and 1:43?

Yes. Most cars in the collection were made in both 1:18 and 1:43, with a smaller number also offered in 1:12. Stock levels vary by scale, so check the listings above for current availability.
