Vehicle Background

The Lamborghini Countach LP5000S QV (Quattrovalvole) represents a milestone in the evolution of supercars, blending cutting-edge engineering with bold Italian design. Launched in 1985, it was a significant update to the Countach lineage, featuring a 5.2-litre V12 engine equipped with four valves per cylinder—hence the “Quattrovalvole” designation. This advanced engine configuration delivered an impressive 455 bhp and a thrilling top speed of 185 mph, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.

Visually, the LP5000S QV epitomised Lamborghini’s daring design philosophy, characterised by its aggressive wedge shape, scissor doors, and prominent air intakes. The optional rear wing, though aesthetically striking, was primarily for style rather than aerodynamic efficiency. This model also introduced notable updates to enhance its performance, such as a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system in some markets and advanced cooling solutions to support the powerful engine.

The interior maintained Lamborghini’s signature blend of luxury and sportiness, though its compact space was tailored more for performance-focused drivers. The car utilised a five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, ensuring an engaging and raw driving experience that appealed to enthusiasts seeking uncompromised control and excitement.

With production limited to only 610 units, the Countach LP5000S QV remains a rare and highly coveted piece of automotive history. Its combination of groundbreaking design, engineering prowess, and exclusivity cemented its status as an enduring icon of 1980s supercar culture and a testament to Lamborghini’s pursuit of innovation and performance.
