Cult Scale 1:18 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph: The Last Crewe Rolls-Royce in Resin

Cult Scale 1:18 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph 1998 handmade resin model, elevated front three-quarter view
The Cult Scale 1:18 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph

The Cult Scale Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph brings the last Crewe-built Rolls-Royce saloon to 1:18 scale. Cult Scale Models has made it as a handmade resin model in three period colours: Black/Silver, Sunset Red and Peacock Blue. Each colour is limited to just 120 units.

It’s an inspired choice of subject. Collectors are well served for Silver Clouds, Silver Shadows and modern Phantoms, but the Silver Seraph has rarely been modelled in large scale. That leaves a real gap in many Rolls-Royce model car collections, and this release fills it with Cult Scale’s usual attention to detail.

The Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph: The End of an Era at Crewe

Rolls-Royce unveiled the Silver Seraph at the 1998 Geneva Motor Show as the long-awaited replacement for the Silver Spirit. It was the first all-new Rolls-Royce saloon in almost two decades. It was developed alongside the Bentley Arnage, but the two cars took different paths. Where the Arnage was given a turbocharged V8, the Seraph was powered by a 5.4-litre V12, the first twelve-cylinder Rolls-Royce since the Phantom III of the 1930s.

The V12 suited the Seraph’s character perfectly: silent, smooth and effortless rather than overtly fast. The car’s body was a deliberate evolution of Rolls-Royce design, with softer, rounder lines than its predecessor, the traditional radiator grille and Spirit of Ecstasy, and a cabin trimmed in Connolly leather and wood veneer.

The Silver Seraph also marks a turning point in the marque’s history. It was the last Rolls-Royce designed and built at the historic Crewe factory before BMW took over the Rolls-Royce name in 2003 and production moved to Goodwood. Only around 1,570 Silver Seraphs were made, which makes it one of the rarer modern Rolls-Royce saloons and a fitting subject for a limited-edition model.

Handmade Resin, Built for Display

Cult Scale Models specialises in unusual and often overlooked classics, made in small numbers for serious collectors. Resin is the ideal material for a car like the Silver Seraph. It allows tight panel lines, a faithful reproduction of the long, flowing body, and fine detail on the brightwork that gives a Rolls-Royce so much of its presence.

Like most resin collector models, the Silver Seraph is a sealed, display-focused model with no opening parts. The emphasis is on proportion, paint finish and the overall look of the car on the shelf. At around 30 cm long, it has the stately presence you’d expect from a Rolls-Royce flagship, and it sits well beside other 1:18 luxury saloons.

Three Colours, Three Characters

Silver Seraph Black/Silver (CML199-1)

The two-tone Black over Silver is the most formal of the three. It recalls the traditional Rolls-Royce two-tone schemes of earlier decades, and the contrast emphasises the Seraph’s long bonnet and graceful flanks. Inside, a light leather interior lifts the dark upper bodywork. View the Silver Seraph Black/Silver (CML199-1).

Silver Seraph Sunset Red (CML199-2)

Sunset Red is a deep, rich red, true to late-1990s Rolls-Royce colours and quietly confident rather than flamboyant. It brings out the chrome coachlines along the sides and pairs well with the tan interior. It’s the choice for collectors who want something a little warmer and more individual. Silver Seraph Peacock Blue (CML199-3)

Peacock Blue is a deep, lustrous dark blue and perhaps the classic executive choice. Against the tan leather interior and bright chrome, it gives the model a refined, distinctly British look. View the Silver Seraph Peacock Blue (CML199-3).

Why Collect the Silver Seraph?

  • A historically important Rolls-Royce, the last of the Crewe era
  • A rarely modelled subject, especially in 1:18 scale
  • Strictly limited production: just 120 of each colour
  • A natural companion to Silver Cloud, Silver Shadow and Phantom models in a Rolls-Royce collection
  • A handsome display piece for anyone who appreciates classic British luxury cars

If you collect Cult Scale’s Rolls-Royce models, the Seraph follows on from releases such as the Cult Scale Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud DHC, and together they trace the marque’s post-war saloons and convertibles.
