Description
The Mercedes-Benz R107 450 SL endured through fourteen years of production from 1971 to 1989 because it achieved something genuinely difficult: a grand touring convertible that was simultaneously luxurious enough for the most demanding buyers, reliable enough for everyday use, and prestigious enough to carry the three-pointed star with complete conviction. The European specification of the mid-1980s represented the car at its most mature — accumulated refinements to comfort, safety, and equipment bringing it to a standard of polish that early cars could not quite match.
In Gold Metallic the 450 SL takes on one of its more distinctive and period-correct colour options — a warm, lustrous shade that was genuinely popular on luxury cars of the era and which suits the R107’s confident, unhurried proportions particularly well.
