The Subaru BRZ is the Fuji Heavy Industries coupe developed jointly with Toyota and prepared for Super GT competition by R&D Sport, the long-standing Subaru factory-backed squad. Built to FIA GT300 regulations, the racing BRZ uses a turbocharged flat-four engine derived from Subaru’s boxer architecture, mated to a sequential gearbox and wrapped in extensively reworked aerodynamic bodywork. R&D Sport has campaigned the BRZ in Super GT for over a decade, taking the GT300 title in 2017 and remaining one of the most consistent Japanese manufacturer-backed efforts in the category. The current car continues the partnership between Subaru Tecnica International and R&D Sport, with engineering refinements introduced each season to keep the package competitive against the GT3 machinery and Mother Chassis cars that make up the GT300 grid.

Across the Super GT 2026 season, the No.61 R&D Sport BRZ competes in the GT300 class against a varied field of GT3 cars from Mercedes-AMG, Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, Honda, Nissan and Aston Martin, alongside other JAF-GT and Mother Chassis entries. Iguchi, a Super GT veteran and a previous GT300 champion with the team, is paired with Yamauchi for the campaign, with the team contesting all rounds on the Japanese domestic calendar including Okayama, Fuji, Suzuka, SUGO, Autopolis and Motegi.
