The Porsche 963 is the culmination of Porsche’s return to top-level prototype racing — an LMDh machine developed in partnership with Multimatic on an ORECA chassis, powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 working in conjunction with a hybrid system, and raced by the Porsche Penske Motorsport team that brought together two of American motorsport’s most storied names in a single factory programme. The No. 7 car’s victory in the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona confirmed that the 963 had the durability and pace to win one of endurance racing’s most demanding events — a race where the Florida heat, the relentless rhythm of the high-banked oval sections, and the twenty-four-hour duration combine to expose any weakness in car or team preparation.

The 24 Hours of Daytona at the Daytona International Speedway is unlike any other endurance race in the world — a circuit where the famous 31-degree banked turns push tyres and mechanics to their limits and where the transition between the oval and the infield road course places unique demands on the car at every lap. Winning there as the season-opening round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship carries an authority that resonates through the entire year that follows.
