Description

The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1975 attracted a strong entry of Porsche machinery ranging from the works and semi-works Carrera RSR entries through to private teams running the cars that had dominated GT racing across the first half of the decade. The Porsche Carrera RSR 3.0 — an evolution of the RSR that had been so successful at Le Mans and in long-distance racing since 1973 — remained a competitive package in the GT classes even as prototype machinery pushed performance levels upward.

Walter Vollery, Robert Dorchy, and Eddy Chapuis shared the No. 52 car through the full duration of the race — the kind of three-driver arrangement that endurance racing’s longest events demand, and which calls for consistency, communication, and the ability to hand a car over to the next driver in usable condition. Completing Le Mans at all is an achievement in a field of this calibre, and the RSR 3.0’s flat-six engine and proven mechanicals gave privateer teams a reliable foundation on which to build their campaigns. Spark’s 1:43 resin model captures the No. 52 car in its 1975 Le Mans specification at approximately 10cm in length, presented with display base and display case. Officially licensed.
