Description

The Porsche Carrera 2.8 RSR was among the most successful GT racing cars of the early 1970s — a competition-developed evolution of the 911 Carrera RS that brought Porsche considerable success across endurance racing’s most demanding events. By 1974, the RSR had been further developed into the 3.0-litre variant, but earlier 2.8 specification cars remained competitive in privateer hands, their combination of reliability, balance, and the fundamental rightness of Porsche’s engineering continuing to deliver results against newer opposition.

Le Mans 1974 was a race of considerable attrition — the overall victory going to Matra — but the Porsche entries demonstrated the brand’s characteristic durability across the full 24-hour distance. The No. 72 entry represents the privateer spirit that has always been central to Le Mans, Porsche’s engineering providing the foundation upon which independent teams could build competitive campaigns. Spark’s 1:43 resin model captures the car at approximately 10cm in length, presented with a display case and base.
