Description

The Nissan GT-R LM represented Japan’s most determined assault on Le Mans in the GT1 class during the mid-1990s — a heavily modified, wide-body evolution of the R33 Skyline GT-R built by Nismo to compete at the Circuit de la Sarthe against the world’s best GT machinery. The project carried enormous significance for Nissan and for Japanese motorsport, a manufacturer attempt to demonstrate on the world’s most prestigious endurance stage that Japanese performance cars could compete at the absolute pinnacle of the sport.

The No. 23 car at the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans brought together three of Japan’s most celebrated racing names: Kazuyoshi Hoshino, a figure of legendary status in Japanese motorsport who had been competing at the highest domestic levels for decades; Masahiro Hasemi, whose own career and later team management work made him one of the most respected figures in Japanese racing; and Toshio Suzuki, an accomplished and experienced endurance racing driver. The combination of the GT-R LM’s distinctive wide-body presence and a driver line-up of such deep Japanese racing heritage gives the No. 23 car a significance that extends far beyond the race result. Otto Mobile’s 1:18 resin model captures the car at approximately 25cm in length, individually numbered in a limited edition of 1500, with display base. Officially licensed.
