Description

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS built on the 993 platform occupies a specific and significant position in the RS lineage — it was the last air-cooled 911 RS, the final expression of a tradition that traced directly back to the legendary 2.7 of 1972. Where the 2.7 had established the formula of a stripped, lightened 911 with an uprated engine and the minimum of concessions to comfort, the 993 RS carried that philosophy forward into the most refined and technically accomplished air-cooled 911 generation, producing a car whose 3.8-litre flat-six, wider rear track, and purposeful aerodynamics combined with the 993’s fundamentally superior chassis to create one of the most rewarding driver’s cars of the decade.

The 993 RS produced around 300 PS from its naturally aspirated engine — impressive in any context, extraordinary in a car of this weight and balance — and its stripped interior and uprated suspension gave the driving experience an immediacy and precision that the standard 993 Carrera, for all its considerable merit, could not replicate. In yellow, the RS’s wider arches and more aggressive stance communicate its intent with appropriate directness.
