Description

The Porsche 911 993 holds a unique place in the model’s history — it was the last 911 to use air cooling, the direct descendant of the original Ferdinand Porsche-influenced design that had defined the car since 1963. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1993, the 993 brought with it the most comprehensive engineering changes the 911 had received in years: a new multi-link rear suspension that transformed the car’s handling and replaced the swing axle arrangement that had given older 911s their challenging reputation, together with revised bodywork that subtly smoothed and freshened the form without departing from the silhouette the public expected. The result was widely regarded as the finest 911 yet built — a judgement that many enthusiasts maintain today, decades after water cooling arrived with the 996.

In Blue Metallic, the 993’s refined surfaces and cleaner greenhouse read with a composed elegance that suits the car’s character — the last of a lineage that stretched back thirty years, finished with the assurance of a manufacturer at the height of its confidence. Minichamps’ 1:18 diecast model captures the 993 at approximately 24cm in length with working wheels and display base, produced as a limited edition of 402 pieces. Officially licensed by Porsche.
