The Ferrari 296 GT3 was developed by Ferrari Competizioni GT in partnership with Oreca as the successor to the long-serving 488 GT3, taking the road-going 296 GTB as its starting point. Power comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 derived from the production car, mounted in a chassis engineered specifically for customer racing, with aerodynamics tuned for stability across a wide range of GT3 regulations. The EVO update brings revised aero, electronics and reliability refinements following the model’s first seasons of international competition. The 296 GT3 has already proven competitive in the IGTC, GTWC and IMSA arenas, and has been adopted by several teams in Japan’s Super GT championship.

In the 2026 Super GT season, the Ponos Racing No.45 contests the GT300 class against a diverse field of FIA GT3 machinery alongside JAF-GT and Mother Chassis cars from manufacturers including Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Lamborghini, Porsche and Subaru. GT300 is renowned for its depth of grid and unpredictability, with success ballast and a wide spread of car concepts producing close racing across the eight-round calendar. Cozzolino brings extensive Super GT and GT World Challenge Asia experience to the line-up.
