Description

The Jaguar Mk II 3.8 stands as one of the great over-achievers of the post-war British motor industry — a four-door saloon that could outrun virtually any sports car of comparable price, wrapped in bodywork of genuine elegance and fitted with an interior of leather, walnut veneer, and traditional Jaguar craftsmanship. The twin-cam 3.8-litre XK engine produced 220bhp and gave the Mk II performance that its conventional appearance entirely belied, while the independent front suspension and disc brakes — still far from universal fitment on family saloons in 1959 — gave it handling that matched its straight-line speed.

In Dark Grey Metallic the Mk II presents as an understated, executive choice — a colour that emphasises the car’s formal proportions and professional character without the sporting associations of green or red. This right-hand drive UK edition captures the domestic market specification.
