Description
Alpina occupies a unique position in the automotive world — a manufacturer that begins where BMW leaves off, taking the Munich company’s already accomplished products and subjecting them to a programme of hand-finished refinement, engineering enhancement, and bespoke development that creates vehicles with a character entirely their own. The B4 Bi-turbo, based on BMW’s F32 4 Series coupe, exemplifies this philosophy: the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six is reworked to produce around 410hp, the suspension is retuned for Alpina’s characteristic blend of high-speed stability and long-distance comfort, and the interior receives the Lavalina leather, wood trim, and hand-finished details that distinguish every car that leaves the Buchloe factory.
The result is a car that is quicker than its modest appearance suggests — capable of exceeding 300km/h — but which delivers its performance with a sophistication and refinement that sets it firmly apart from the more overtly sporting M4. Where the M car is focused and demanding, the B4 Bi-turbo is effortless and elegant: a grand tourer in the truest sense, as comfortable covering vast distances on the autobahn as it is on a mountain pass. In White, Alpina’s trademark multi-spoke alloy wheels and subtle badging create a quietly distinguished appearance that rewards the informed observer.
