Sports Car and Endurance Legends

Endurance racers make up almost half of this category, with Le Mans the single biggest theme. CMR offers the Jaguar D-Type longnose #6 in which Mike Hawthorn and Ivor Bueb won Le Mans in 1955. Werk83 covers the Ferrari 250 TR61 that won Le Mans in 1961 for Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill, the 330 P4 of Bandini and Amon that led a Ferrari one-two-three at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours, and the Gulf Porsche 908/03 that Jo Siffert and Brian Redman drove to victory on the 1970 Targa Florio. Its AMG Mercedes 300 SEL, the Red Pig, finished second overall at the 1971 Spa 24 Hours. KK Scale adds the 250 GTO #19 that won the GT class and finished second overall at Le Mans in 1962.

Historic Grand Prix Cars

Around a third of these models are also in our F1 models range. Highlights include the MCG Williams FW11 of Nigel Mansell, winner of the 1986 British Grand Prix in the last Formula 1 race held at Brands Hatch, and the GP Replicas Brabham BT46B fan car, which won the 1978 Swedish Grand Prix with Niki Lauda in its only championship race. Werk83's Mercedes racing transporter comes with the W196 that Stirling Moss drove to his first World Championship win at Aintree in 1955.

1:18 is the most popular scale here, followed by 1:43, where Spark has built a deep archive of Le Mans entries in resin. Tecnomodel specialises in limited edition resin models, including 1950s Ferrari sports cars and 1970s Ferrari 312 B2 Formula 1 cars with driver figures. Top Marques models are hand-built in resin, such as its Ferrari 330 P4 Spiders from Le Mans and the Targa Florio in 1967. Werk83, CMR and MCG work in diecast, and KK Scale 1:18 models are sealed with working wheels. We use the term for old race car models of cars from past decades, from 1950s sports cars and Grand Prix machines through to 1980s and 1990s Group C, touring and rally cars.

Do you sell vintage race car model kits?

Most models here are ready-built for display. The exception is the Pocher 1:8 Porsche 917KH Martini Edition, a pre-painted diecast kit that you assemble yourself.

Which scale is best for vintage race car models?

1:18 shows off the bodywork and cockpit detail of older cars well, while 1:43 lets you build a full Le Mans grid or a complete history of one marque on a single shelf.

Are these models resin or diecast?

Both. Spark, Tecnomodel, Top Marques and GP Replicas use resin, while Werk83, CMR, MCG and KK Scale use diecast. Each product title states the material.
