Choosing a Scale for F1 Model Cars
1:18 is the most popular size for F1 model cars. A recent Formula 1 car of around 5.6 metres works out at roughly 31cm long in 1:18, about 13cm in 1:43 and around 47cm in 1:12, while cars from the 1970s to the 1990s are noticeably shorter. 1:43 is the scale for building a complete grid on one shelf, and 1:24 and 1:64 suit smaller spaces. Our scale guide compares every size in more detail.
Resin or Diecast
Spark produces a large number of F1 models, in sealed resin with very fine detail and fast release schedules for current cars. GP Replicas, Tecnomodel and Looksmart also work in resin, often as limited editions with driver figures or display cases. Minichamps, Werk83, MCG and Bburago produce diecast replicas, which tend to feel heavier in the hand. Opening panels are uncommon on single-seater replicas at any scale, so the choice usually comes down to finish, detail and budget.
Teams and Drivers
F1 models cover teams including Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Williams, Lotus and Red Bull Racing, with Benetton, Brabham and Jordan represented through Tecnomodel, Werk83 and MCG. If you collect by driver, our dedicated pages for Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Ayrton Senna gather every car, helmet and figure for each name.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best scale for F1 model cars?
1:18 offers the best balance of detail and shelf space, and it is the most popular scale for F1 models. 1:43 suits collectors who want a full season or a long run of one team, while 1:12 makes a large centrepiece.
Are F1 models diecast or resin?
Both. Spark, GP Replicas, Tecnomodel and Looksmart use resin, which allows sharp detail on small production runs. Minichamps, Werk83, MCG and Bburago make diecast F1 cars. Each product title states the material.
Do you stock 1:18 F1 model cars of the current season?
Yes. Current-season cars usually arrive first from Spark, Minichamps and Looksmart, and new releases are often listed as pre-orders before they reach us.
How do pre-orders work?
Many new F1 models are announced months before release. Pre-orders are charged when the model is released, not when you place the order.
