Few drivers shaped Formula 1 as decisively as the 'Flying Scot'. A three-time World Champion with 27 Grand Prix victories, Sir Jackie Stewart combined blistering speed with a calm, analytical mind that reshaped the sport on and off the track. Our Jackie Stewart model cars collection gathers scale replicas of the cars that carried him to the front — faithful tributes to one of motor racing's most complete and influential figures.

The BRM years — a champion in the making

Stewart arrived in Formula 1 in 1965 with BRM, taking his maiden win at Monza in only his first season. Partnering the experienced Graham Hill, the young Scot quickly established himself as a driver of rare precision and racecraft. The BRM period was one of promise tempered by mechanical fragility, yet it laid the foundation for everything that followed. A 1966 accident at Spa, from which Stewart was rescued only with difficulty, also planted the seed of the safety crusade that would later define his legacy.

Matra and the first title

The move to Ken Tyrrell's Matra-run team proved transformative. Driving the elegant, Ford Cosworth-powered Matra MS80, Stewart dominated the 1969 season, winning six Grands Prix to claim his first World Championship in commanding fashion. The pairing of Stewart's judgement with Tyrrell's meticulous organisation produced a benchmark of consistency. The MS80 remains one of the defining cars of the period — a graceful, purposeful design that carried the Scot to the summit of the sport for the first time.

Tyrrell dominance — two more crowns

When Tyrrell began building its own chassis, Stewart carried the new marque to the very top. He took a second title in 1971 aboard the Tyrrell 003, winning six races across a supremely assured campaign, then added a third in 1973. That final championship season was overshadowed by tragedy: Stewart's planned 100th and final Grand Prix, at Watkins Glen, was withdrawn after his young team-mate François Cevert was killed in practice. The Scot retired immediately, a champion at the height of his powers.

Safety, legacy and Sir Jackie

Stewart's most enduring contribution came away from the cockpit. In an era when driver deaths were routinely accepted, he campaigned relentlessly for barriers, medical facilities, seatbelts and safer circuits — often in the face of hostility from organisers and even fellow drivers. Historians credit his advocacy with saving countless lives. He later returned as a team owner with Stewart Grand Prix, and was ultimately knighted for his services to the sport, cementing a legacy that reaches far beyond his 27 victories.

The Stewart models to collect

This collection spans the machinery of a remarkable career. Look for the title-winning Matra MS80 of 1969, the Tyrrell single-seaters that delivered the 1971 and 1973 crowns — the Tyrrell 003 among them — and the BRM cars of his formative early seasons. Replicas are offered from 1:43 up to 1:18, with 1:18 examples rewarding close inspection of cockpit detail, suspension and livery. We stock respected marques including Spark and Minichamps, each known for accurate proportions, crisp printing and authentic period finishes.
