Few names in motorsport carry the weight of Sainz. Across two generations, the family has conquered gravel and Tarmac, desert and grand prix circuit alike, earning a place among the sport's rarest father-and-son dynasties. Our Carlos Sainz model cars collection celebrates both men in equal measure: the double World Rally Champion and Dakar legend Carlos Sainz Sr., and his Formula 1 race-winning son Carlos Sainz Jr. Together they represent one of the most decorated bloodlines competitive motorsport has ever produced, and this combined page brings their achievements, and the models that honour them, into a single tribute.

Carlos Sainz Sr. — World Rally Champion

Born in Madrid in 1962 and universally known as 'El Matador', Carlos Sainz Sr. rewrote the record books of the World Rally Championship. He claimed the drivers' title twice, first in 1990 aboard the Toyota Celica GT-Four ST165 and again in 1992 in the evolved ST185, becoming the first Spaniard to be crowned world rally champion and a national sporting hero in the process. His career was a study in versatility and endurance, spanning works drives with Toyota, Lancia, Subaru, Ford and Citroen. Along the way he amassed 26 WRC rally victories and contested close to 200 championship events, remaining competitive at the very front for the best part of two decades. Equally at home on Monte Carlo ice, Safari dust or the fast gravel of Finland, his precision, mechanical sympathy and relentless consistency made him one of the most complete and admired drivers the discipline has known. Even after his outright title-winning years, his pace continued to shape constructors' championships for the marques he served.

Carlos Sainz Sr. — Dakar Rally legend

If two world titles were not enough, Sainz Sr. reinvented himself as a cross-country great in the most demanding arena of all. He has won the Dakar Rally in the cars category four times, and remarkably with four entirely different manufacturers: the Volkswagen Touareg in 2010, the Peugeot 3008 DKR in 2018, the Mini John Cooper Works Buggy in 2020 and the pioneering Audi RS Q e-tron in 2024. Each victory demanded thousands of kilometres of navigation across dunes, rock and open desert, rewarding not only outright speed but also strategy, resilience and an intimate understanding of the machinery beneath him. That final triumph in 2024 came at the age of 61, making him the oldest winner in the event's history and the first driver ever to conquer the marathon in a hybrid-powered car. No other competitor has mastered the world's toughest rally raid across such a breadth of eras, technologies and engineering philosophies, and it is a chapter of his career that collectors prize just as highly as his tarmac and gravel exploits.

Carlos Sainz Jr. — Formula 1 race winner

Born in 1994, Carlos Sainz Jr. carried the family name onto the grand prix grid and quickly established himself in his own right. He made his Formula 1 debut with Toro Rosso in 2015, then progressed through Renault between 2017 and 2018 and McLaren in 2019 and 2020, steadily building a reputation as a fast, thoughtful and consistent points-scorer. His move to Ferrari for 2021 proved the making of him: it was in the famous scarlet cars that he came of age, taking his maiden grand prix victory at the 2022 British Grand Prix at Silverstone after a tense, drama-filled afternoon. Further wins followed in Singapore in 2023 and at both the Australian and Mexico City Grands Prix in 2024, the Melbourne triumph coming just two weeks after he underwent surgery. From 2025 he races for Williams, bringing his experience and race-winning pedigree to one of the sport's most historic teams and continuing a career already rich in grand prix victories, pole positions and podium finishes.

The Sainz models to collect

Our range captures both chapters of this remarkable story. For Carlos Sainz Sr., we stock finely detailed replicas of his rally and Dakar machinery — the championship-winning Toyota Celica GT-Four in its Repsol and works liveries, alongside the Volkswagen, Peugeot, Mini and Audi Dakar winners — with IXO and Spark leading the way in the popular 1:43 scale, complemented by larger showpieces stretching up to 1:18. For Carlos Sainz Jr., the Formula 1 cars are beautifully rendered by Minichamps, Spark and Bburago, spanning his Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari and Williams seasons and available from 1:43 right up to 1:18. Each model reproduces the sponsor liveries, driver numbers and fine detailing that define the era it represents. Scale replica helmets finished in the colours of Carlos Jr. round out many a display, offering a striking companion piece to sit alongside the cars themselves and complete a dedicated Sainz shelf.

Whether you follow the rally roads and desert dunes of the father or the grand prix circuits of the son, you will find the definitive Sainz tribute here at Model Universe. Browse the full collection below, with worldwide shipping available on every model.
