About Spark Models

Spark was founded around 2000 by Hugues Ripert and was one of the first manufacturers to build its models largely from resin rather than diecast metal. Resin tooling costs far less than diecast, which allows Spark to produce short runs of very specific cars, down to an individual race number, driver line-up and result. That approach has made Spark the go-to brand for collectors who want the exact car from a particular race.

Le Mans and Endurance Racing

Spark is best known for its endurance racing models and has produced many hundreds of cars that competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, from pre-war winners such as the 1930 Bentley Speed Six to current Hypercar entries like the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Cadillac V-Series.R. Explore our Le Mans models and endurance race cars for the wider selection.

Formula 1, Rally and Touring Cars

Spark's Formula 1 range follows the grid race by race, and selected race winners are supplied with a pit board or flag. Popular drivers include Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, and the complete selection is in our F1 models category. The range extends to rally cars, Super GT and BTCC touring cars, as well as detailed 1:5 scale F1 helmet replicas.

Spark Scales Explained

  • 1:43 – Spark's core scale and widest range, at roughly 10–13cm long. Ideal for collecting a full season or a complete Le Mans field.
  • 1:18 – around 25–31cm long, with more detail and presence; a popular choice for landmark wins and championship cars.
  • 1:64 – compact models of around 7cm, sized for building whole grids.
  • 1:12 – large-scale showpieces of roughly 35–45cm.
  • 1:5 helmets – replicas of drivers' race helmets in their exact season designs.

Resin Construction and Detail

Spark models are sealed resin replicas, with no opening doors or bonnets. The focus is on accurate proportions, sharp panel lines and fine detail: precise sponsor liveries, photo-etched parts, and the correct wheels and aerodynamic configuration for the specific event. Most releases are produced in limited quantities and are not usually reissued once sold out.

Spark and Looksmart

Ferrari models in the same style are produced by sister brand Looksmart, which holds the Ferrari licence. For Ferrari Formula 1, Le Mans and road cars, Looksmart is the place to start.
