About Road Kings
Road Kings is a line launched in 2018 by the German company behind KK Scale, created to produce classic trucks in 1:18 scale. The cabs and chassis are diecast metal, while the trailers are plastic, which keeps a full articulated rig manageable in size and weight. The models have steerable, sprung axles and opening doors, so they reward close inspection as well as display. The range is supported by accessories such as figures and spare wheel and tyre sets.
Classic European Trucks
Much of the range covers the cab-over tractors that dominated European haulage in the 1970s and 1980s. Volvo F88 models have appeared in racing team colours, including Martini Racing and the John Player Special livery of Team Lotus. The MAN F7 and the Mercedes NG series represent German heavy trucks of the early 1970s, and the DAF 3600 Space Cab has been produced in Eddie Stobart colours, a favourite with British haulage collectors. Many European releases are limited editions.
American Rigs from Film and TV
On the American side, Road Kings has modelled long-nose conventional tractors such as the Kenworth W900 and the Peterbilt 359. These include screen trucks from Smokey and the Bandit, B.J. and the Bear and Movin' On, with matching trailers, and figures of famous screen truckers have been made to stand alongside them.
Display Size and Scale
1:18 is a large scale for trucks. A tractor unit alone typically measures around 35 to 40cm, and with a trailer attached a complete rig can approach a metre in length, so allow shelf or cabinet space before you order. Our scale guide explains how 1:18 compares with other scales. Use the filters above to narrow the range by truck make.
