The latest GT3 RS culminates Porsche’s “race to road” philosophy, tracing lineage back to the legendary 1973 Carrera RS 2.7. The RS designation has always meant innovation and high-performance, but the 992 GT3 RS pushes into a completely new sphere.

Faced with strict emissions regulations limiting horsepower gains, Porsche’s engineers took a bold approach: they eschewed pure engine power and focused intensely on aerodynamics and grip. The result feels more like a race car than a road car—the most extreme roadgoing 911 ever made.

The 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six produces 518hp (525 PS) at 8,500rpm, revving to a glorious 9,000rpm redline. It delivers 343 lb-ft of torque at 6,300rpm through a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission with shortened gearing.

The GT3 RS lapped the Nürburgring in 6:49.328. Even more astonishing: on Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo RS tyres, it corners faster than a 992 Cup Car on slicks in high-speed corners. Top speed is 184mph—limited by the massive aero drag.

The headline figure: 860kg downforce at 177mph—double the 991-generation GT3 RS, triple the current 992 GT3. This comes from a radical single central radiator where the frunk used to be, freeing front corners for active aero elements.

The swan-neck rear wing sits higher than the roofline, featuring active DRS and airbrake functions. Carbon fiber construction keeps weight to just 1,450kg. The optional Weissach Package adds carbon anti-roll bars, coupling rods, and a carbon rollover bar saving 6kg.

The steering wheel features four rotary dials and DRS button, allowing chassis tweaks without lifting hands. Adjustable features include electronically adjustable dampers (separate front/rear), differential lock (power and coast), and multi-stage stability control.

Chassis features wider track (29mm front, 30mm rear), airfoil-shaped wishbones generating 40kg extra downforce, and solid-mounted suspension bushes. The steering is hypodermic-pointy and incredibly communicative. Massive 408mm front discs provide phenomenal braking with airbrake assistance.

The interior reflects race-focused purpose with lightweight construction everywhere. Standard CFRP full bucket seats provide exceptional support. The cabin features black leather, Racetex microfibre, and carbon-weave finishes.

Weight-saving means limited driver assistance—only essentials like backup sensors included. Features a 10.9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and the Porsche Track Precision App for measuring performance data on track.

The 992 GT3 RS is a monument to modern engineering. Andreas Preuninger affirmed there’s “nothing fake, nothing exaggerated”—every detail serves maximum performance. It holds the title as fastest naturally-aspirated production car around the Nürburgring.

Its aero performance compares favorably to a 911 GTE Le Mans car. This depth of innovation makes it arguably the best GT3 RS ever. It remains pure naturally aspirated while other 911s introduce hybridization—the last of the Weissach crazy gang for this generation.
