Description

The 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans was the high-water mark of the diesel era — a race in which the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP and the Audi R15 TDI fought out one of the most technically fascinating battles in the event’s history, two manufacturers committed to proving that compression ignition could conquer La Sarthe. Peugeot prevailed, the No. 9 Peugeot Sport Total car taking outright victory in a result that vindicated the French manufacturer’s enormous investment in diesel Hypercar technology and delivered one of the most significant Le Mans wins of the modern era.

The 908 HDi FAP was a remarkable machine — a diesel-powered LMP1 car of extraordinary performance and efficiency, its characteristic exhaust note and immense torque giving it a character unlike any petrol-powered rival. From Spark’s Le Mans Winner Collection, this 1:43 model captures the winning No. 9 car at approximately 11cm in length, presented with a display case and base.
