Description

Unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, the Maserati Bora was a landmark car for the Modena manufacturer — its first production mid-engined road car, and a statement of intent that Maserati could match Ferrari and Lamborghini on their own terms. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, the Bora’s clean, angular lines were ahead of their time, and the execution was no less impressive beneath the skin. A 4.7-litre V8 mounted amidships drove the rear wheels, while Citroën’s sophisticated hydraulic systems — Citroën having acquired Maserati that same year — operated the brakes, pedal cluster, and seat adjustment with a precision unusual for a supercar of the era. In Light Metallic Green, the Bora wears a period-authentic colour that suits the subtle elegance of Giugiaro’s design perfectly.
