Description

Add a Group B rally icon to your collection with the Lancia 037 Rally No.4 2nd Monte Carlo Rally 1983. This officially licensed replica represents the works entry that finished as runner-up at the season-opening round of the 1983 World Rally Championship, driven by Markku Alén and co-driver Ilkka Kivimäki.

The Lancia 037 was developed by Abarth in conjunction with Pininfarina and Dallara to contest the new Group B regulations introduced by the FIA. Powered by a mid-mounted, supercharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine driving the rear wheels, the 037 was the last rear-wheel-drive car to win the World Rally Championship manufacturers’ title. Its tubular spaceframe chassis was bonded to a fibreglass body, keeping weight low and stiffness high for the demands of stage rallying. The car made its competition debut in 1982 and was developed continuously through the 1983 season under the Martini Racing banner. Alén, Walter Röhrl and Attilio Bettega formed the core of the works driver lineup.

At the 1983 Monte Carlo Rally, the 037 faced its toughest test against the four-wheel-drive Audi Quattro on a mix of dry tarmac and snow-bound mountain stages. Röhrl took victory for Lancia, with Alén and Kivimäki bringing the No.4 car home in second place to complete a one-two for the Italian marque. The result set the tone for a season-long battle with Audi that Lancia would ultimately win for the manufacturers’ championship.

Made by Spark in 1:43 scale, this resin model measures approximately 10.5cm and comes with a display base and clear case. The Martini livery, period sponsor decals and competition number are reproduced as a sealed body replica, in keeping with Spark’s 1:43 rally car format. At this scale it sits comfortably alongside other Group B-era Lancias and contemporary WRC machinery.
