Description
The Nissan R390 GT1 was the most ambitious Le Mans project Nissan had undertaken — a purpose-designed GT1 class prototype developed in partnership with Tom Walkinshaw Racing and powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V8 derived from Nissan’s racing programme. Unveiled for the 1997 season and developed further for 1998, the R390’s sleek, flowing body represented a significant investment in the GT1 class at a time when the category attracted factory efforts from Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, McLaren, and Toyota — making it one of the most fiercely contested classes in the race’s history.
The 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans was the R390 GT1’s most competitive appearance — a race that would be remembered as one of the GT1 class’s defining moments, Nissan’s multiple entries running consistently through the night at La Sarthe against the most sophisticated GT racing machinery ever assembled. In Green the R390’s elegant proportions are captured with the full-race Le Mans livery that made it one of the more immediately recognisable cars in the 1998 field. GT Spirit’s 1:18 resin model captures the car at approximately 25cm in length, individually numbered in a limited edition of 999, with display base. Officially licensed.
