Douglas Aircraft Models. The Douglas Aircraft Company was an American aerospace manufacturer that was active from 1920 to 1967. During its nearly five-decade history, the company produced some of the most iconic and influential aircraft in aviation history. The company’s early contributions to aviation included the DC-1, DC-2, and DC-3, which were widely used for commercial air travel in the 1930s and 1940s. During World War II, the Douglas Aircraft Company produced numerous military aircraft, including the legendary Dauntless dive bomber and the Skyraider attack plane.

After the war, the company continued to innovate and produce a wide range of civilian and military aircraft, including the DC-8 and DC-9, which were popular for commercial air travel, and the A-4 Skyhawk, a carrier-based attack plane used by the United States Navy and other countries. The company was eventually merged with McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in 1967 to form McDonnell Douglas, which later became part of The Boeing Company in 1997.
